RISCTOX is a database on hazardous substances that aims to provide clear, organised and concise information on the health and environmental risks of chemicals that may be present in products handled or generated in your workplace.
RISCTOX provides the following information on individual substances in the form of substance profiles:
- Specific health risks.
- Environmental risks.
- Relevant information and legislation.
- Recommendations for action and reference sources.
Searches can be carried out using the general search engine, by entering the substance name or identifiers such as the CAS number or EC (EINECS) number, or through the different risk and legislation lists.
RISCTOX collects and systematises publicly available information from official and authoritative sources. The information is progressively updated, taking into account current legislation and new available evidence.
The absence of a substance from RISCTOX does not mean that it is not hazardous. Likewise, RISCTOX information does not replace workplace risk assessment or consultation of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), labelling and the relevant official sources.
The available information may not cover all the possible effects of a substance on health or the environment. Where evidence shows relevant differences related to sex, pregnancy, breastfeeding or other circumstances, these will be taken into account in the specific information provided for the substance.
